The Ride to Conquer Cancer OvCaRe team is made up of people with one common goal: the desire to make a difference in the lives of those suffering with ovarian cancer. Not only do the OvCaRe group of researchers and clinicians work tirelessly to improve outcomes for ovarian cancer patients through the amazing work that they do, they’re also members of the cycling team! Team OvCaRe boasts some of the “founding fathers” amongst the ranks: Drs. Blake Gilks, David Huntsman and Dianne Miller. Our riders also include other researchers, PhD students, laboratory technologists, ovarian cancer survivors and most importantly of all, caring citizens from the community at large.
Team OvCaRe started out in 2009 with 17 team members raising $49,000. The team continued on for 2010 with 19 team members raising $69,000. At this moment, team OvCaRe 2011 has an amazing 30 team members ready to ride with a total fundraising goal of $120,000!
The team works tirelessly to raise money for the advances made possible by the OvCaRe group of researchers and clinicians and we also train our buns off in preparation for the ride itself. The Ride to Conquer Cancer is a two day cycling journey from Vancouver, BC to Seattle Washington covering a distance of approximately 250km.
