Mission & Goals

OVCARE’s mission is to enhance ovarian cancer research in British Columbia with the goal of improving health outcomes for women facing this disease. OVCARE is currently focused on two major goals:

  1. Reducing the incidence of ovarian cancer. OVCARE has launched the world’s first ovarian cancer prevention program in hopes of decreasing the incidence of this cancer by up to 50% over the next 20 years. This program is unique – OVCARE’s belief is that prevention will save the most lives of anything that we do.
  2. Improving health outcomes through development of new and individualized therapies. International metrics show that we are providing excellent care for ovarian cancer patients here in B.C., and OVCARE is proud that British Columbia has some of the best outcomes in the world for ovarian cancer, a significant area of our translational research. OVCARE is using state-of-the-art genomic technologies to understand the genetic profile of these cancers and is working to develop new drugs and clinical trials based on our discoveries.
